    Israel: a Murderous State

    By: Mukhtar Shu`ayb

As we watch the daily massacres perpetrated by Israel against unarmed Palestinians, is there any question remaining about it being a ‘murderous state?’

There are many considerations that support this description of Israel. First of all, the Geneva Convention of 1949 and its two supplementary protocols of 1977 define the characteristics of an oppressive, murderous state and Israel fits this description perfectly.

This same Convention labeled some other states in the same way, for example, the Soviet Union during the tyrannical reign of Stalin, who carried out an evil campaign of genocide against the minorities of the Caucasus. Next we have Nazi Germany and the French Revolution during the age of Robespierre who sent over 140,000 French people to the guillotine. They also mentioned Serbia and its massacres in Bosnia, Herzegovina as well as Kosovo and armed groups in Rwanda and Burundi.

Hence, any state that deliberately violates the rules of International Law and human rights will be labeled as ’a murderous state.’

Keeping in mind this definition of ‘a murderous state’ and at the same time following the Israeli expansion policy from the very beginning of their state until today, we realize that the various aspects of this definition can undoubtedly be applied to Israel.

This definition can be applied to Israel as a result of Zionism, its colonizing policies, and its bloody massacres of anyone who stands in their way. The world has witnessed the heinous massacres against innocent people of Palestine and the occupied Arab territories. We remember the massacres of Qafr Qasim and Dayr Yassin, of 1956 and 1967, Bahr al-Baqar, Sabra and Shatila, Qana and the massacres that were committed at the time of the two Palestinian Intifadas. The first Intifada (1987-1993) had more than 1116 martyrs and 20,000 injured, while the second had 1900 martyrs and 45,000 injured.

Thus Israel violated the rights of many Arabs by committing over 500 massacres and destroying 450 towns and 650 villages in Palestine, Golan Heights, Southern Lebanon and the Sinai. Many Israeli officers confessed to these atrocities, such as Ariel Pierre and Menachem Begin in his book “Argon Story”, along with the memoirs of Shamir and Sharon and many others.

The criminal element of Israel is observed in its state military forces and police force that commits these crimes against unarmed civilians by using means of destruction, which are internationally prohibited like murder, political assassinations or torture that leads to death. All these crimes have been condemned in reports by international organizations such as the United Nations, Amnesty International and the High Commission for Human Rights; they described them as war crimes in some reports and as genocide in others. The world has witnessed the continuous Israeli massacre of Palestinian civilians in which Israeli military forces use conventional and internationally banned weapons including tanks, fighters, missiles, cluster bombs and poisonous gases since September 2000. Thus, they knowingly, arrogantly and flagrantly violate international law.

    |Moreover, Israel’s political leaders order and implement these crimes daily. Their crimes are not confined to violating human rights, but they also confiscate land, destroy houses, burn farms and uproot trees on a continuous basis.

The Zionist ideology supports this notion of Israel being ’a murderous state’ and has sought to support its oppression, before the International Court of Justice, America continually turns a blind eye to Israel’s violations of human rights and so the task of deterring Israel is placed on the shoulders of the international community, if it wants the laws of justice to prevail instead of the law of the jungle.
