RAMALLAH, (PIC)-- The family of the Palestinian prisoner Mansour Mawkadi has appealed to local and international legal institutions to pressure Israel to release him in view of his medical condition and unbearable pains. The family issued a statement explaining that Mawkadi was hit during his arrest with Israeli occupation forces' bullets in the stomach, intestines and bladder. The statement noted that the lower part of his body was paralyzed as a result and he underwent five complicated surgeries and was now living on sedatives. It noted that Mawkadi was in need of a high risk surgery that could cost him his life, yet he is insisting on the operation to get rid of the unbearable pains which he suffers permanently and to be able to sleep. In an unrelated context, Ashraf Al-Ajrami, the minister of prisoners' affairs in the illegitimate government of Salam Fayyad, has told an Israeli website that his government and Fatah faction did not want the release of Fatah leader Marwan Al-Barghouthi in a prisoners' exchange deal between Israel and Hamas. Ajrami said that he wanted Barghouthi's release in negotiations between PA leadership and Israel and not in the prisoners' exchange deal because it would serve as an asset for Hamas. |
